THE HORNET

One of Tamiya's most famous Radio Controlled cars. The Hornet!

Using both lower and upper case Serif Gothic Black font and filling the 'O' with yellow to represent a hornet. Nice touch.

I don't remember the Super Hornet, but here it is. Doesn't look as fast.

New for 2012 one of my favourite designers, Jun Watanabe, has created this Japan exclusive colourway version. I couldn't believe it when I saw it. It's absolutely banging! Love the matching controller but not sure how long I would last in South London with it.

BLACK GOLD

I have been holding back from using Serif Gothic until something special came along.

Black Gold is a bass music record label who commissioned me to create their logo and affiliated visual media. For me Serif Gothic Heavy was the perfect weapon of choice. I knew it would stand solid whilst providing opulence with its elegant serifs. Initially I wanted to use the Black format of the font, as of course this would tie in nicely with the name, but it was just too much so I settled for Heavy.

300 screen printed 12" covers in gold!

Hope I have done the font justice!

DICK

Saw this book for sale at the weekend, didn't buy it, sounded very boring. But interesting how Serif Gothic Black looks modified here. I am starting to get the feeling that the digitized versions of the font are different from the original. If anyone can shed some light on this it would be appreciated.

M.O.T.U

He-Man : Masters Of The Universe must have been my first introduction to Serif Gothic, long before I could even care. But it must have slipped into my subconscious somewhere along the way.

I happen to have a few boxed figures. The packaging and graphics are definitely part of the whole experience of getting and having any toys.

The font looks great, but actually Mattel slightly modified a few of the letters. Here the lowercase 't' has a curve at the bottom as oppose to being straight, the 'r' and 'w' have lost their serifs a little and the uppercase Heavy 'A' has a pointy top like an uppercase Bold 'A'. Geek out.

'HORDE' written in some crazy modified form.

Good to see all weights and family members being used on the backs. They even write the safety info in Serif Gothic.

WISE GUY

Picked this up in a local charity shop. Absolute smasher of a book cover. Serif Gothic looking good in red against black. It's the book that became the film 'Goodfellas''. Shame they didn't use the same font for the Movie title.
